Evangelista’s work is rooted in an understanding of the body as both subject and material. Investigating the quiet negotiations of identity and memory. Her processes include fabric collage, cyanotype on fabric, hand and machine stitching, screen printing, and painting with dye. Often blending intuitive material play with slow meditative handwork.
Through layered compositions, gestural hand-stitching, and the use of the figure, she reflects on “in-betweenness”. Between revealing and concealing, presence and absence, and comfort and constraint. Her works reference personal rituals, memories, and feelings. For her textiles are vessels for emotions and generational memories.
Guided by both craft lineage and a cinematic approach to narrative, Evangelista creates textile works that honor the intimate, the in-between, and the quietly transformative
